Head Coach: Falyn Myers

I had a chance to speak with Coach Myers as the Phoenix 2025 squad gets amped up for the 2024 spring and summer grassroots basketball season. Look for this squad to be airborne and extremely fast-paced. They have pieces that will allow them to be really good in the backcourt and a force in the paint. They will play a tough man defense, looking to make opponents earn everything they get. This team should be fun to follow over the next few months.

Key Players:

Soma Okolo (6’1/G/’25)

Soma is a highly athletic wing with good positional size. I was surprised to hear Coach Myers say that they run a lot of lobs for Soma, so I am looking forward to watching Soma and her squad compete. She is a very good perimeter shooter, which will open lanes for Soma and her backcourt teammates. Soma is an offensive-minded shooting guard who hunts for her shot, keeping defenders guessing. Defensively, Soma is a disruptive on-ball defender. She has 11 Power 5 offers to date.

Kianna Wormly (5’10/SG/’25)

Kianna is a highly athletic guard who is a two-way talent. She will be a tough cover offensively, and teams will have to account for her scoring abilities. Her athleticism is extensively seen on the defensive end of the floor, as she has great defensive anticipation and plays the passing lanes very well. Kianna has 7 D1 offers to date.

Abigail Seitz (5’9/CG/’25)

Abigail is the floor general on this squad, and she will be responsible for keeping everyone happy on the offensive end of the floor. Abigail will need to balance scoring and facilitating because just as much as her squad will need her to run the show, her scoring prowess from behind the arc will also be needed.

Players To Keep An Eye On:

Evie Bruce (6’1/FF)

Evie will bring toughness to the floor and make the paint a battlefield. She has scoring versatility, as she can score on the low block and step out and knock down the three. She is a relentless rebounder and makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.

Katie Peiffer (5’11/GG)

Katie is an absolute marksman from behind the arc. She can go for huge numbers and has the capability to do so whenever she steps onto the floor. She had a 39-point performance with her 6A high school team, where she went 10-14 from behind the arc. She will have to be accounted for whenever she is on the floor.

What Is The Key For Your Team To Have A Successful AAU Season?

Coach Myers responded to this question with a simple answer: We have five players with D1 offers, and if we can continue to help our players gather offers, we will be headed in the right direction. We will look to get better by playing the best, and hopefully, at the end of the season, everyone will be better than we are today.
